A low-fat diet is one that restricts fat and often saturated fat and cholesterol as well. Low-fat diets are intended to reduce diseases such as heart disease and obesity. It is believed that low-fat diets will help people to lose weight. But low-fat diets are very dangerous.

Americans were suffering from a new epidemic of heart disease in the 1950s because they were eating more fat than their ancestors is what Ancel Keys found out on his research.
Mr. Taubes(correspondent for Science magazine) noticed two problems with that theory which he explain them in his book. The first one is that it wasn’t clear that traditional diets were especially lean. That ancient hunter-gatherers had higher ratio of fats than the Western diet. And the second one is that there more cases reported for having heart disease, but that sure was not epidemic of heart disease.
To prove his theory Dr. Keys compared diets and heart disease rates in the United States, Japan and four other countries, and it showed that more fat correlated with more disease. But Dr. Keys, after three years made another research, and the association changed position. It asserted that ‘the best scientific evidence of the time’ warranted a lower-fat at high risk of heart disease.
Why low fat is killing you?

In order to make low-fat product, food companies are adding chemicals and fat replaces to keep textures and tastes similar to the original product. (gums, maltodextrin, starch, modified food starch, inulin etc.)

By the Women’s Health Initiative was discovered that 50,000 women on low-fat diets had did not lose any weight. Low-fat foods(skim milk, margarine) have high amount of calories, carbs, sugar, and processed flour that will actually lead to weight gain.
5. It can cause depression and anxiety
You will damage your brain if you are not eating the right kind of fat. Over 60% of the brain is made up of fat, and most of the cells are made up of cholesterol.
